The Clacton Airshow 2026 dates are Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August. Organisers confirmed the dates following one of the most successful shows in its 32-year history. The event promises to be another spectacular celebration of aviation and community on the Essex Sunshine Coast. This article covers confirmed aircraft, opening times, hospitality tickets, the best viewing spots, economic impact, and how to get there.

    What Is the Clacton Airshow?

The Clacton Airshow is the largest aviation event on the Essex coast, with flying displays over the seafront supported by a wide range of ground-based attractions and entertainment. Its typical line-up includes a mix of modern jets, precision aerobatic teams, and historic aircraft, with flying taking place across 2 days using the open coastline as a dramatic backdrop. For the previous guide in this series, see Wales Airshow 2026: Dates, Times, and 6 Essential Facts About Wales’ Biggest Free Event.

The event is organised by Tendring District Council and is one of the UK’s longest-running free airshows, with over 30 years of history.

Who Organises the Clacton Airshow 2026?

The 2026 Clacton Airshow is organised by Tendring District Council, with TSA Consulting Ltd serving as Flying Display Director. The event is staged along Clacton Seafront, Essex, CO15 1LA.

When Is the Clacton Airshow 2026?

The Clacton Airshow 2026 takes place on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August.

Opening times for both days are confirmed as follows:

Thursday evening features a spectacular Twilight Display — a dazzling festival in the sky with illuminated aircraft, lasers, and pyrotechnics lighting up the coastline as dusk falls. Fireworks follow after the twilight flights at Clacton Pier.

Flight display schedules and precise timings are published at clactonairshow.com as they are confirmed closer to the event.

What Aircraft Are Confirmed for the Clacton Airshow 2026?

The 33rd Clacton Airshow delivers a thrilling programme of aerial displays, with the RAF Red Arrows confirmed to perform on both days alongside the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and a host of other spectacular flying and ground-based attractions.

    Confirmed performers for 2026 include:

    • RAF Red Arrows — confirmed for both days
    • Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) — confirmed for both days, featuring the Spitfire and Hurricane
    • Avro Lancaster Bomber — confirmed to join the BBMF
    • RAF Grob Tutor T1 — confirmed for the flying programme

Why Is the Spitfire Display Particularly Significant in 2026?

The Supermarine Spitfire first flew in 1936, making 2026 the year of its 90th anniversary. Seeing these aircraft fly over Clacton represents a rare and unforgettable close-up view of living history, with the unmistakable sound of those engines along the seafront creating a truly special atmosphere.

The RAF Grob Tutor T1 is the aircraft used to train RAF pilots. Fully aerobatic and highly manoeuvrable, it plays a key role in teaching the fundamentals of military flying and is a popular display aircraft at airshows across the country.

Additional aircraft are expected to be announced by organisers before the August event date.

On the ground there are exhibits from the Army and RAF, children’s activities, a simulator, climbing and entertainment areas along the Clacton seafront. A wide range of trade stands and a food court are on hand, and after the show, many retail stores remain open late for evening shopping.

The ground event site is located at West Greensward, Marine Parade West, CO15 1NW.

What Are the Best Viewing Spots at the Clacton Airshow?

There are 4 recommended viewing locations along the seafront:

    1. Marine Parade West — panoramic views of the main display area and easy access to food stalls
    2. Clacton Pier — a photography spot with aircraft passing closely overhead
    3. West Greensward — family-friendly space with room to picnic while watching displays
    4. High Ground at Holland-on-Sea — a quieter vantage point for those seeking less crowded areas

In its 33rd year, the event site is expected to welcome in the region of 250,000 visitors, with impressive aerobatic displays, exhibition stands, a food court, and on-site entertainment all available at ground level.

What Is the Economic Impact of the Clacton Airshow?

The Clacton Airshow generates an estimated £12 million for the local economy each year.

Tendring District Council committed to running Clacton Airshow annually up to and including 2027, giving the show a more sustainable footing and allowing organisers to plan further ahead.

Ivan Henderson, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth, Regeneration and Tourism at Tendring District Council, stated: the airshow delivers an estimated £12 million impact to the district and that the commitment to continue it through to 2027 represents a proud investment in the district’s identity, tourism, and future.

Over 220,000 people attended the Clacton Airshow in 2015, and the event has grown consistently across its 3-decade history.

How Do You Get to the Clacton Airshow 2026?

Can You Take a Train to the Clacton Airshow?

Yes. Clacton is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from London by direct train. The station is the nearest to the show. Southeastern services run to Clacton-on-Sea from London Liverpool Street.

What Is the Sat Nav Postcode for the Clacton Airshow?

Use the postcode CO15 1NW until close enough to pick up airshow direction signs, then follow those signs in preference to Sat Nav, as traffic diversions may be in place.

Is There Parking at the Clacton Airshow 2026?

Parking details for 2026 are being finalised by Tendring District Council. Car parks adjacent to the main event site — including Hastings seafront and grass car parks, and the main Martello coach park — are unavailable for public parking for the duration of the event. Alternate parking and local council-run car parks are available, with clear signage provided on arrival. A Park & Ride service may also be available; confirm details at clactonairshow.com closer to the event.

Live radio commentary is typically provided by BBC Essex on 103.5FM during both days of the show.

Is the Clacton Airshow 2026 the Same as Previous Years?

The 2025 Clacton Airshow, themed Legends of the Sky, drew an estimated 200,000 people to the Essex Sunshine Coast for 2 days of thrilling aerial displays, heritage aircraft, twilight performances, and vibrant ground attractions. The 2026 edition builds on that foundation, adding the Spitfire’s 90th anniversary as a central theme and the confirmed return of the Lancaster Bomber alongside the BBMF.

    About Us

Redhill Airshow is an annual aviation event held at Redhill Aerodrome, Surrey, every August. What started as a small vintage fly-in has grown into one of the most charming days on the airshow calendar — warbirds, aerobatics, an aerojumble, and a very British garden party atmosphere, all on one of England's finest grass airfields. No big stages. No distance between you and the aircraft. Just aviation the way it was always meant to feel.
